Description
Yoto Says: Delight in two heartfelt stories by Caldecott Honor-winning author-illustrator Oge Mora, where the themes of community, generosity, and the importance of spending time together are beautifully celebrated.
In Thank You, Omu, everyone in the neighborhood dreams of a taste of Omu’s delicious stew. One by one, they follow the scrumptious scent to her door, and Omu shares portions of her meal. But when the pot runs empty, will Omu be left without? This heartwarming story, featuring vibrant cut-paper illustrations, is a celebration of community and the rewards of generosity. Omu, meaning “queen” in Igbo, is a term the author used for her grandmother, inspired by the strong female role models in her life. Saturday follows a mother and daughter on their cherished Saturday routine. But when one thing after another goes wrong—ruining storytime, salon time, picnic time, and the puppet show—they are reminded that being together is what truly matters. This tender tale celebrates love and the joys of spending time with family, no matter what the day brings.
